Kathmandu kommer till Bergsjön

Vi – Shilpee Theatre från Kathmandu, Nepal, turnerar genom Tyskland, Danmark och Sverige i sommar. I augusti kommer vi till Bergsjön med åtta skådespelare.

Längtar du efter kulturellt utbyte? Kom och träffa oss, en ensemble som länge kämpat för social rättvisa och jämställdhet med konsten som verktyg. Vi bjuder in till två arrangemang: 

FORUM THEATRE WORKSHOP

7 augusti kl 13.00-19.30 på Kulturhuset Bergsjön

Forumteater är en interaktiv teaterform där en scen visas upp, i vilket ett typ av problem eller förtryck utspelas, och sedan uppmanas publiken att föreslå vidare prova alternativa lösningar genom att ta över rollerna och testa sina idéer. Under denna workshop kommer vi att gå igenom grunderna och skapa egna forumspel. Dessutom delar Shilpee Theatre med sig av hur de använt denna metod i Nepal. Inga förkunskaper krävs

Forumteater är ett teaterverktyg ur metoderna med samlingsnamnet Theatre of the oppressed, vilket utvecklades av Augusto Boal i Brasilien.

OM SHILPEE THEATRE:

Shilpee Theatre är som en family, med 15 konstnärer. Vi lever och skapar teater tillsammans.

För elva år sedan byggde vi, med vänners hjälp och mycket arbete, en teater i Kathmandu. Vår dröm var att ha en plats för teater och skapande – en plats för utbytande av tankar och idéer. En plats där poesi, musik, färg och kreativitet kunde delas fritt. En plats där folk kunde mötas utan rädsla för fördomar, och för meningsfull, kreativ dialog.

Varje kväll uppträder vi i vår egna teater. Varje år reser vi genom landet och ibland även grannländer. Vi förvandlar öppna ytor till en scen. Vi erbjuder workshops och vi visar föreställningar.

Nu har Shilpee Theatre fyllt 20 år. Vi har rest långt och lärt mycket. Och nu vänder vi blicken mot Europa för att dela med oss lite av det vi gör och för att i gengäld lära oss mer. 

Förutom att dela teater med er, vill vi bygga vänskaper. Bortom de smala korridorerna av kast, religion och klass, vill vi dela livserfarenheter med människor från olika bakgrund, med ett kollektivt och inkluderande perspektiv. Vi vill identifiera den gemensamma tråd som binder samman människor över olika sätt att leva.

Vi hoppas att denna resa ska bli en gemensam upplevelse av intellektuellt och kreativt lärande.

Kathmandu is coming to Bergsjön!

Want an intercultural exchange? We, the Shilpee Theatre Kathmandu, is touring Germany, Denmark and Sweden. We will be visiting Bergsjön in August with eight artists.

Join us and get to know a Nepalese ensemble that has been fighting for social justice and gender equality with their art for years. We will be offering two theatre events:

FORUM THEATRE WORKSHOP

7th of august kl 13.00-19.30 at Kulturhuset Bergsjön

Forum theatre is an interactive form of theatre where you show a scene with some kind of conflict or oppression. And then the audience

Forum theatre is an interactive theatre form where a scene is presented, in which a type of problem or oppression is played out. And then the audience is invited to suggest further alternative solutions by taking on the roles and testing their ideas. During this workshop we will go through the basics and create our own forum plays. In addition, Shilpee Theatre shares how they used this method in Nepal. No prior knowledge is required. The workshop will be in english.

Forum theatre is a theatre tool from the methods with the collective name Theatre of the oppressed, which was developed by Augusto Boal in Brazil.

About Shilpee Theatre:

Shilpee Theatre is a family of 15 artists. We live together and create theatre together.

Eleven years ago, with the support of friends and our hard work, we could build a theatre house in Kathmandu. Our dream was to have a regular performance space — a space for open exchange of ideas. A space where poetry, music, colors, and creativity could be shared freely. A place where people could meet without fear or prejudice for meaningful, creative dialogue.

Every evening, we perform in our own theatre house. Every year, we travel across the country and sometimes to neighboring nations. We turn open spaces into stages. We offer workshops, and we publish plays.

Now, Shilpee Theatre has turned 20. We’ve traveled far, and learned much. And now, we want to head to Europe to share a little of what we do, and to understand and learn a lot more in return.

Along with the craft of theatre, we want to build friendships. Beyond the narrow confines of caste, religion, and class, we wish to share life experiences with people from diverse backgrounds, with a collective and inclusive perspective. We want to recognize the common thread that binds people across different ways of living.

This journey is a learning experience for us a shared, intellectual, and creative exchange.

Come, let’s meet Nepal outside of Nepal.
